En död komikers liv – en saga om Lenny Bruce

The story unfolds in the USA of the nineteen-fifties and sixties and shifts between Lenny’s night club monologues and his love for Honey. Among freedom of speech trials, accusations of obscenity and a hectic life in the jazz clubs of New York City.

Fredrik Evers wrote the script and directs, offering audiences a glamorous show. He also pinpoints a societal mood in which he believes the level of debate has sunk very low indeed, in which people are easily offended and the way we express ourselves is more important than what we have to say. Can’t we joke about anything and everything?

This will be a world premiere at Göteborgs Stadsteater (Gothenburg City Theatre), a big theatre production with a large cast, a live orchestra and a chorus line to boot!

Fredrik Evers is an actor and a director. He is a member of the permanent ensemble at Göteborgs Stadsteaters (Gothenburg City Theatre) and has, since 2004, performed in a long succession of productions. Among the more recent ones: Karl Gerhard, Underkastelse (Submission), Lärda kvinnor (The School for Women), Lång dags färd mot natt (A Long Day’s Journey Into Night) and Kejsarn av Portugallien (The Emperor of Portugallia). During the spring of 2022 he appeared in Vi hade i alla fall tur med ramavtalet (At least the Frame Agreement was good) and Mr. Burns. Evers’ previous directing credits include Den rätte (The Right One) and Colettes kokbok (Colette’s Cookbook) at Göteborgs Stadsteater and Möte med Strindberg (Meeting with Strindberg) at Lilla Teatern among others.
