Theories about humanity

If you can't put it into words, who can?

Is it possible to talk to each other when the words pile up in heaps over what wants to be said? Is a quite communion possible when silence is used to hide what should be said? And who can hear when everyone's inner screams drown each other out?

We meet Sami, Hermon, and Josef in the schoolyard. Sami tries, tries, and tries again, but the words no longer suffice. For Josef, fear takes over. He uses all the words except the ones that really need to be said. And Hermon, she pursues the truth as her reality crumbles from the others' loud silence.

Theories about humanity is a reflective play about the importance of words and the laws of friendship. In a fast, rhythmic, and swinging dialogue, everything from grief, love, loyalty, and loneliness to who is the greatest poet of Swedish hip-hop is discussed. But when it finally takes the greatest courage to utter the smallest words – what happens to friendship then?

Theories about humanity was created as part of the Children's Theater Academy's rough script commission New Voices, 2021.
