It’s the end of May in year 1431 when Jeanne d’Arc is brought to the stake to burn. She is Jeanne the Virgin, accused witch. Famous in all of France as commander and savior of the French crown. Now she will burn.
The trial against her has been going on for three months. 165 men who time after another inquests a 19 year old woman. The two main questions: Jeanne’s alleged contact with God and why she is wearing men’s clothes. Her own explanation for the bloody battles she has fought: it was God’s will. Minutes from the trial have been kept intact since the Middle Ages. We have copies. This is our tale about Jeanne d’Arc.
